Instructions for teachers on how to create and use look up tables within Excel to calculate grades from scores automatically. Equally, you might use these instructions when teaching this skill to students. I hope these instructions are fairly straight forward. I used Excel 2013 for the print screens, though the skill is similar in whatever Excel version is being used. Great for staff training. ALL staff should know how to do this to save time when tracking data. Enjoy!

This is another in my 'Let's Learn' series. The lesson gets students to think about their initial ideas before introducing start-up and running costs so progress can easily be judged. The lesson PowerPoint is equally good for revision if printed or made available electronically so it's even more of a bargain! There are two main activities (one is an exam style question assessment that can be peer marked with teacher guidance. The lesson plan is included to guide teachers through every step of the lesson. This lesson includes an editable lesson plan, PowerPoint for display, group work task, extension tasks, G&T task AND lower ability task. The lesson starts by recapping or introducing stakeholder groups. Students have a challenge to name or identify as many groups as possible. Students are then introduced to conflict with a scenario of a new supermarket opening locally. They must work in groups to focus on one stakeholder group each. This is discussed as a class. Conflict is discussed then an activity concludes the lesson on resolving the potential conflicts identified. Enjoy.

Print this sheet on A3. This is a quite engaging and relatively accessible start to Business Studies, particularly for Year 9 or low ability groups OR useful for PSHE or Enterprise lessons. They DRAW their idea for a business (there’s a shop front, so most will come up with businesses in retail, though could equally be a service based business like Estate Agents etc.). They then design a logo, flyer and come up with a business name. After this (which is a good introduction), I teach GOODS and SERVICES and SECTORS then get them to complete their sheet fully. I also get them to colour and make it look good for display. I’ve also included a version I made for new students who had just arrived from Poland. Enjoy.

Activities: Discuss differentiated outcomes / objectives Mind map ways a business can be ethical Discussion on ways a business can be ethical Cut and paste group sort activity ethical or unethical? (hand out/worksheet included) Discussion on ethical or unethical practice (answers included on PowerPoint) Design/display work (A3 handout) - students design a new ethical milkshake brand Differentiation: higher abilities also add how much their brand will do ethically compared to competitors. Should be quite a fun lesson for what is often a tedious topic. Some good display work can be produced too if students are allowed time to colour/design their brand ideas. Would also suit PHSE topics on ethical trading/fair trade etc.

Exactly what the title says! A blank, 6 period day, timetable template. Useful to give to students to copy up their weekly timetable or for teachers to display on the wall to show primary classes which lessons are scheduled for when. Here I've outlined one way to embed YouTube clips into your lesson PowerPoints. If this doesn't work, or is too complicated, search my resources for the other method! These instructions go through step-by-step how to embed YouTube clips into PowerPoint. This is a temperamental process, so if it doesn't work, try my other method (don't feedback to tell me it doesn't work, it works for most!). I think I have expertly translated as best I can. Excusez-moi! This version of my plenary selector gets students to look back at what they have learnt in a French lesson. Slide 1 includes a spinning wheel that can be stopped to choose the plenary for the lesson. There are seven different outcomes so it could be used regularly and routinely in lessons to get students to reflect on their learning, all fully resourced where required. The PowerPoint took ages to make and code, so please don’t share too readily! You must enable macros on your computer to allow it to work, or get in touch with your IT technician! Enjoy. 'Understanding Computers'; scheme of work and accompanying student booklet for Key Stage 3 Computer Science. Fully planned and resourced, print and go. The unit of work has been referenced against the new KS3 programme of study for Computing. The unit includes short topics on hardware, software, devices, input, output, storage, binary numbers, convergence and future technologies and is a good basis for an introduction to computers. This unit would ideally suit year 7 or 8 students and has elements of differentiation throughout to allow teachers to deliver the same unit of work to multiple ability groups (save on the planning!). An eight page student booklet and accompanying outline of six lessons of work that gets students to create a PowerPoint presentation about either the Loch Ness Monster or Big Foot to include text, links, images and sounds. This is a fun, short unit of work suitable for Key Stage 3 ICT or Computing lessons. I must stress that, unlike some of my other resources, this is not a pick up and go, fully planned unit of work. It is an engaging student booklet that is GREAT for collating evidence of student work and it is a collection of six lesson OUTLINES. Teachers will need to add to this in order to fully teach reliability and skills in producing a multimedia presentation. I'd see this as a perfect first unit for either year 7 or 8 to get them started for a year of engaging ICT or Computing lessons. Enjoy! Any feedback is, as always, greatly received.
